New Race Venue and Organizer in 2019

After ten successful years, the Short Pump Mile Race is being transitioned by NOVA of Virginia Aquatics to a new venue and a new organizer.

The 2019 Regency Mile will be hosted by Endorphin Fitness at the Regency Square Mall on Sunday, October 27.

This event is the area's largest youth timed road race and fun run for kids -- over 1,300 runners participated in 2018! Proceeds benefit fitness initiatives at local schools and in the community. Prizes for school participation will continue.

Are there race photos?
Professional photographers from Tri Duo Sports Photography will be at the race photographing the runners. To see or purchase prior year's race photos, please access their website.

Where does the race start?
The race starts at Short Pump Town Center in front of American Family Fitness.

Who can run the mile race?
Any runner that is 18 or younger on race day can run this event! Runners with special needs are also welcome. Parents or Guardians will be allowed to accompany or assist special needs runners.

How can schools participate and win prizes?
Schools can win cash awards for their physical education programs. Read more about it and see past winners on our School Participation page.

My child is young - can I run the race with them?
Yes! Parental participation is limited. A parent or guardian may only run in the heat with their special needs child, the 8 year heats, or the 7 & Under heats. All parents/guardians must start at the back of the corral, and are only there to support their runner in times of need (emergency or moral support). Parents are not allowed to run directly next to their child. This is to be a safe, fair, and competitive event.

What do you get when running this event?
First, you get the pleasure of having hundreds of people cheer you on while you run. You are the star of the day! Then, when you cross the finish line you will receive the coveted Short Pump Race Medal. Of course, there is also the great post-race food, the awards, and the AWESOME Short Pump Race T-Shirt you get just for registering.

How do I find out the winners of the mile race?
Award ceremonies will be held on race day, with individual race awards given out in person. Results will also be posted to our website. If you are unable to pick-up your award on race day, they may be picked up at the NOVA offices the following week.
